NZ: All are well after quake in Christchurch
As you all probably know, the Russells were awakened to a 7.1 magnitude earthquake early yesterday morning.
After several attempts to reach Linda and John, reports finally came through via Facebook late yesterday that all are okay, though there has been damage to some of their houses — Greig, Kelly and the kids having the most with what sounds like considerable damage to their home, sorry to say.
I think I can speak for the rest of the clan by saying we’re just happy you’re all alive and well.

Here’s an update from Linda:"Hi there,just got power back on after 14hrs. We are all well, John got a bit nervous at the time of the quake as of course he can’t move too well.We got him dressed & sat around waiting for daylight. I got the dogs in their collars ready in case we had to dash.The area is a terrible mess but we have only just seen it on tv in the last 5mins.. You will have seen more than us. Greig’s house is the worst hit, his area is really bad, They have no power or water. we at least had water. Greig & Kelly’s house is a mess, the big garage has moved on its base. The conservatory has become detached from the house, kitchen written off, chimney, fence & brick fence all fallen down, there are huge cracks in his concrete, & on the road outside it’s all broken up.Kelly, poor soul , got all bruised trying to get to Summers room & all she could hear was breaking glass & crashes, Summer was okay.Ryder was in their room so that was good. They are all now with us & will stay here till they sort things out. The house is not that safe at the moment.I will go for now so thank you all for your phone messages,etc.Will get back in touch when we know what is happening but we are all well.They have said we are to have a massive after shock, we have had lots of shocks so we’ll hang in there & see what happens.Take care allLoveLinda & clan Russell xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
