By now you’ve probably heard about yesterday’s 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch. The damage is definitely devastating and my heart goes out to the families who lost love ones — the count is 65 at the moment and expected to rise. Selfishly I am happy though for, thankfully, our family down there are all well. Dad and Susan received a call from Linda early this morning (U.S. east coast time) to confirm that fact.
If you haven’t been keeping up with the rumblings in that area of NZ, they have had literally thousands of small earthquakes and “aftershocks” since last September. Many of those aftershocks were bigger than any earthquake most of the rest of us have ever felt. There is even a website that is just devoted to news of these quakes and shocks (http://www.earthquake-christchurch.com/).
To the Russells, glad to hear you are okay. We’re thinking about you.
